GR: Ambrose Grieves

Frank Houlton was born into a rather wealthy family along with 3 other siblings. When he was 16 he became romantically involved with a much older man named Emrys. A few months after becoming involved with Emrys, Frank decided to run away from his family to go live with him. Emrys was a member of the cult 'Eye's Immortal Saints' and in order for Frank to live with him and continue the relationship, he would have to become a member himself. Being absolutely enamored by Emrys, he agreed. 

Eye's Immortal Saints were a self-proclaimed religious group revolving around the concept of the 'Great Eye' and search for immortality. Members of the group all renamed themselves and took the last name 'Grieves' after the leader and primary prophet. In keeping with the doctrine, Frank Houlton became Ambrose Grieves.  The process of joining is hazy for Ambrose to recall; but it involved a lot of isolation, blood, sweat, and tears. As well as giving up all his personal possessions. He was given a uniform and was not allowed to keep any other material items aside from a pack of cigarettes, knives, and various poisons. 

In order for them to find immortality, the Eye's Immortal Saints would have to inflict severe physical damage to their bodies until they were on the verge of death. They were supposed to do this repeatedly until the leader of the group acknowledged they were immortal. Unfortunately the leader would rarely ever actually do this, taking great sadistic pleasure in watching others torture themselves and even die.

Sometime during his time in the cult, a Daegra took interest in Ambrose's absolute dedication to his beliefs. It would constantly communicate with him under the guise of being the Great Eye himself, making Ambrose's delusional beliefs even stronger and more fanatic. (Also he picked Ambrose because he thought he'd be easy to mess with.)

After 5 years in the cult, Ambrose was tracked down by his family and dragged back home. He continued to obsess over the cult, and would constantly run away back to the old church it operated out of. At this point he didn't even really care about his relationship with Emrys, he was just absolutely dedicated to becoming immortal through the teachings of the Great Eye. After three years of constant running away and obvious instability, his family admitted him to the Asylum not wanting to take care of a 25 year old man who still acted like a mentally unwell child.

Power: Pain

Ability 1: Mutual Pain

Ambrose is able to elicit the feeling of pain in others through his own pain and vice versa. It is only the feeling of pain and no actual physical damage is done.

     Tier 1: Causing Ambrose physical pain will cause the person inflicting it to feel pain as well. This also works the other way around. If Ambrose is causing another person physical pain, he will also feel it himself.
     Tier 2: Same thing as above, but the inflicting party will feel equal pain. 
     Tier 3: Ambrose is more easily able to control this mutual pain ability. If he doesn’t want others to feel pain inflicted on him, he can make it so. However, he will still always feel the pain he inflicts on others

Ability 2: My Prayer

Holding his hands together in prayer allows Ambrose to detect any kind of nearby pain being experienced. Can be useful for finding others, or for sensing possible danger. If he uses this ability for too long without a break, he’ll become fatigued and sick. 

     Tier 1:  Can detect somebody experiencing physical pain from 10 ft away. 
     Tier 2: Can detect somebody experiencing physical pain from 20 ft away. 
     Tier 3:  Can detect somebody experiencing physical pain from 35 ft away. 

Ability 3: Faith Healing

Ambrose is able to heal his body at a much faster rate. So long as he is feeling physical pain, he can heal himself. If his pain is inhibited and unfelt, he will not be able to heal.

    Tier 1: Cuts and bruises will heal themselves quite fast, regardless of depth
      Tier 2: Deeper wounds from stabs, bullets, etc. will heal completely without medical attention. However, if there's something inside the wound it will heal around it and will require medical attention to prevent internal bleeding. Important organs will not heal, and the healed wounds will often have no sensation for months after they've healed.
     Tier 3: Limbs and small body parts are able to regenerate, with the exception of his head. Important organs are also able to heal almost instantly if punctured or damaged, though discomfort will often stay around a few months after the injury (ex. if a stomach wound heals he will experience intense nausea a few months after. And if a lung wound is healed, he will still have difficulty breathing for a few months following). The only internal organs he can not heal are his heart and brain.
